Info: Institut Jantung Negara (I.J.N.) or the National Heart Institute is the country’s leading Cardiovascular and Thoracic Health Centre. With its corporatisation and status as the country’s premier heart hospital, IJN’s medical services/facilities (and charges) are comparable to other top private hospitals in the city.

Unless you are a civil servant (or the spouse, parent or child of a serving government officer), you are required to pay in full yourself. Alternatively, your employer/insurance company must guarantee payment for your treatment and hospital bills. Underprivileged patients can apply for financial assistance or reduced charges, though. It is no longer a free or “2-Ringgit” government hospital as many still like to believe.

With a new wing recently added, the hospital now has 438 beds in wards ranging from single-bedded suites to six-bedded shared rooms. IJN also has a 24-hour Emergency Department for unstable angina, myocardial infarction (heart attack) and chest pain cases.

Visiting Hours (Waktu Melawat) for General Wards:
10:00 am to 2:00 pm, 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Children under 12 years of age are allowed to visit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm only.

Visiting hours for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit:
12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Children 12 years and under are not permitted in the units or at the waiting areas.
