  • Villa Lotus Hua Hin

    They say give priority to your friends, first. I have a another interesting hotel following me on Instagram. That is the Villa Lotus Hotel Hua Hin @villalotus on IG. It is also known as Lotus Villas & Resort Hua Hin.

    Before this, I know little of Hua Hin. Like many Malaysians, I only know Bangkok, Chengmai, Phuket, Pattaya and Hat Yai or those places frequently visited by Malaysians. Regular travelers will know you don’t want to go on a holiday to a town full of people from your own country. Hua Hin seems like a nice, little known destination. So far I have only seen my Fb friend Ling Li Tan posting about the resort town.

    From Wikipedia: Hua Hin is a seaside resort on the Gulf of Thailand, in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Once a quiet fishing village, it grew into a fashionable escape for residents of Bangkok after the 1920s, when the Thai royal family built summer palaces here. Hua Hin Beach, popular for kitesurfing and other water sports, is the main stretch of sand, lined with high-end hotels and seafood shacks.

    Lotus Villas & Resort HuaHin features a 40 m long and 1.7 m deep outdoor pool and a fitness centre. It offers guestrooms and private villas with modern facilities with either a spa bath or a private pool. Free WiFi is available throughout the resort. The property provides free scheduled shuttle service to Hua Hin Centre, Hua Hin Beach and Clock Tower.

    Hua Hin Night Market is within a 15-minute drive from Lotus Villas & Resort. It is a 20-minute drive from Floating Market and Black Mountain Water Park. Bangkok City is a 3-hours’ ride away.

  • Borobudur

    I was about to write a feature on Borobudur in Indonesia. The 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple ruins with stupas and statues in Magelang, Central Java is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, and also considered one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. With the historical landmark so near, I can see from my social media timeline, many Malaysians visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site, probably as a bucketlist destination.

    By a happy coincidence, I gained a recent Instagram follower named @sarasvati_borobudur_hotel. I contacted them and found out the account is run by the management of the hotel. A nice person by the name of Emir responded and a helpful Bambang sent me pics to feature.

    Touted as a boutique hotel with colonial design, Saraswati Borobudur Hotel offers free wi-fi, an outdoor pool and a restaurant. It also provides bicycle rental and Javanese arts classes. More importantly, it is a short walk or bicycle ride from Candi Borobudur. (see map below). I asked Emir if Saraswati is spelled with a V or W. He said they were registered as Saraswati but are in the process of changing to Sarasvati.

  • Hotels In KLIA

    All of us will need an airport hotel for various reasons some day. It may be to catch an important flight on time, to stay overnight because of flight arrival or departure delays or to wait for lost or delayed baggage. Usually it may be because of transit or to catch a connecting flight. Note that many of the KLIA budget hotels are in a satellite town away from the airport. Not all are at the doorsteps or inside the airport complex although many labelled themselves misleadingly or tagged KLIA to its name. Always find out about available transport options before you book. Staying at an airport hotel can take away the usual pre-flight stress and anxiety about unexpected traffic jams and other delays.
