Buddhist Maha Vihara’s Shrine Hall

Info: Commonly referred to as the Brickfields Buddhist Temple, the Buddhist Maha Vihara was founded by the Sinhalese community of Kuala Lumpur in 1894. The Buddhist Maha Vihara regularly conducts full moon & new moon day prayer services, Sunday Dhamma classes and registration of marriages. This Buddhist landmark is located at the edge of Brickfields’ Little India.

On Wesak Day (Vesak Night), an annual procession of colourful floats with statues of Buddha makes its way to the city centre and back. Located opposite the Shrine Hall is the multi-storey Wisma Dharma Cakra. The complex also houses the Buddhist Institute Sunday Dhamma School (BISDS), Tadika Sudharma, Parama Business & IT Training Centre and the Asoka Hall.
